Why we do what we do
We built Vanterra because we've experienced how difficult it is in today’s marketplace. Once we figured out how to survive winters, droughts, a pandemic, and the Great Resignation, we thought we were on solid ground. Then came investment money and an 800-pound gorilla to compete with.
We had to figure out how to survive with competitors that received an intellectual influx and nearly unlimited resources. Lead prices increased. Sales got more difficult. We thought, what happens if another local competitor finds a partner before we do?

After successfully scaling ’58 Foundations & Waterproofing, we realized that we could help other independent foundation repair contractors grow and compete more effectively, so we launched Vanterra Foundation Solutions. Just as with ’58, local, independent foundation repair businesses have a history. They have a personality. And they have people who rely on it – people you care for. We want ‘58 and our partner businesses to thrive.

Where we began
1930
We made houses safer
The founder develops the first technique for waterproofing basements from the inside using a drain tile and gravel approach.
1958
We open as BDry Waterproofing
The company officially opens for business.
1974
We add more services
The company partners with AB Chance to begin structural repair services.
1977
We begin fixing crawlspaces
The company begins to waterproof crawl spaces with a similar French drain system as used in the basement.
1993
Healthier, energy-saving homes
The company begins encapsulating crawl spaces to lower relative humidity and moisture problems.
2009
We patented our process
We introduce state-of-the-art non-clogging features and unique “air gap” engineering, becoming the industry’s strongest, largest water-removing, and self-cleaning drainage channel on the market.
2013
Drier, healthier, energy-efficient
The company adds high-efficiency, high-volume air-filtering dehumidifiers to its offerings.
2019
Innovative leadership
Long-standing industry experts become new partners. Todd Prosan, Kevin Coppersmith and Richard Fencil combine 35 years of industry experience and forward-thinking vision with ’58 Foundations' long history and knowledge base.

Safety first
To ensure the safety of our team and customers during the Covid-19 pandemic, we begin offering virtual assessments.
2021
’58 Foundations & Waterproofing emerges
We re-name the business to better position our suite of foundation services: foundation repair, crawl space repair, mold remediation, radon mitigation, egress windows, and basement waterproofing.
2022
Recognition for industry-leading performance
